BY-LAWS

Effective January 1,2024

Article I

NAME

The name of the organization shall be: RIDGEVIEW RANCH SENIOR GOLF ASSOCIATION. The official website is www.rrsga.org

Article II

OBJECTIVES

The purpose of the RRSGA shall be to provide senior men golfers the opportunity to enjoy golf as a group through a non-profit organization.

Article III

MEMBERSHIP

Membership will consist of men at least fifty-five (55) years of age.

Membership dues shall be due and payable January 1^st of each year. Members become delinquent by January 31^st. Dues are $20 a year. If a new member joins in the last quarter the $20 also covers the following year. No member shall be eligible to participate in golf activities without having paid their current year’s dues.

In order to participate in tournaments a player must have a valid handicap or have one provided by the current Executive Committee. As tournaments are played, scores will be placed in the handicap system. New members without a handicap will play their first 3 tournaments in a Calloway Flight to establish a handicap. Thus, on their fourth round of play they will have a handicap.

Article IV

OFFICERS

The Officers of RRSGA shall make up the Executive Board. The Officers are:

President - Chief Executive Officer

Vice-President - Tournament Chair and Shadow President

Treasurer - Membership records, finances

Secretary - Newsletters, Meeting monitor, correspondence

Web/Handicap – Web Site, Handicaps

Article V

ELECTIONS

The President shall choose four members in good standing who have not served on the last nominating committee of those officers only along with one member from the Executive Board, for the purpose of nominating officers to serve the next term. This group will be appointed before September 1st. The committee will announce their candidates to the members by October 1^st. After this announcement, any member in good standing can nominate additional candidates for consideration as officers. The President shall establish a deadline for additional nominations. The election will be held at a membership meeting the first week of November, or as close to this timeframe as possible. The new slate of officers will take office approximately December 1^st.

Article VI

OFFICERS AND THEIR DUTIES

• President

o Elected to a 2 year term – starting on the odd years

o Preside at all RRSGA Executive Board and regular membership meetings.

• Manages the RRSGA organization
• Coordinates with Ridgeview Ranch Management
• Conducts regular membership meetings as required
• Coordinates with other golf associations regarding interclub tournaments
• Keeps membership informed via website and e-mail
• Appoints committees as necessary
• Exercises final decision authority on all RRSGA matters
• Chairman of Executive Committee
• Disseminates reminders and other information via e-mail
• Manages the signup process for all tournaments

• VP Tournaments
• Elected to a 2 year term – starting on the even years.
• Assist the President as required and assume the responsibility of the President when needed.
• Tournament Director – plans and manages all RRSGA Golf Tournaments, which includes, but not limited to:
• Provide a Schedule with Formats.
• Any Special Tournament Requirements.
• Provides decisions on Rules disputes.
• Oversees tournament scoring.
• Oversees monetary payout.
• Coordinates with the Pro Shop in staging the carts and placement of the cart signs and scorecards.
• Establishes special tournament requirements such as Inclement Weather Plan.
• Act as Handicap Chairmen.
• Monitor the golf handicap program working closely with the Web Master to ensure handicaps are maintained accurately.
• Ensures that scores are entered into the handicap system.

• Treasurer
• Elected to a 2 year term – starting on the odd years
• Manages all RRSGA financial matters
• Reports financial status to the officers and the membership
• Maintains checking account, makes deposits and pays all bills promptly
• Collects and deposits membership dues
• Maintains the official membership roster to include contact information
• Hole In One fund: status, collections deposits and payment

• Secretary
• Elected to a 2 year term – starting on the even years
• Records minutes of official meetings and publish minutes on the website
• Coordinates the Side Game table: volunteers, signup for and collection of money
• Coordinates payout to Closest to the Pin winners

• Web Officer
• Volunteer
• Maintains the web site
• Maintains HTML editor software
• Maintains webhosting and domain name accounts
• Updates web site and posts updates requested by RRSGA officers
• Maintains RRSGA Handicaps
• Maintains the official handicap software
• Obtains official scorecards from VP of Tournaments
• Enters/Updates scores into the Handicap system
• Calculates and saves updated handicaps

§ Provide the president a signup sheet with the latest handicaps for next week

§ Posts updated Member Handicaps to the web site

• Publishes Tournament Results

§ Photograph the Tournament Results

§ Create a document for the Tournament Results for the web page

§ Post the Tournament Results to the web site

• Maintain the latest copy of RRSGA documents that are posted to the web site

§ By Laws, Officer Duties, Schedule, Meeting Minutes, Special Events, New Member Info, Membership Application, Hole-In-One Club, etc…

Article VII

OPERATING COMMITTEES

The Executive Board has authority to appoint committees to carry out any and all activities of the RRSGA. Committees will be appointed as circumstances dictate.

Article VIII

AMENDMENTS

The By-Laws may be amended at any general membership meeting. Suggested amendments must be sent to the members at least 30 days in advance of the general membership meeting or a called membership meeting. Amendments to the By-Laws must be approved by two-thirds vote of a quorum of the active membership.

Article IX

MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS

Full membership meetings will be held at least one time a year. Additional meetings may be called as deemed necessary by the Executive Board and by individual members. An individual may call a full membership meeting at any time by advising the President in writing 30 days prior to the meeting date.

Article X

LOCAL RULES OF TOURNAMENT PLAY

The Local Rules of Tournament Play will apply at all RRSGA tournaments. These rules have been reviewed and approved by the Board of Officers and may be amended as necessary by the board. Current USGA Rules of Golf will apply with the exceptions of our local rules.
